What services does Cooperative Cleaning provide?
Cooperative Cleaning provides residential cleaning services. We offer light cleaning with our standard pricing below along with deep cleaning services by request. For what comprises our basic light cleaning services, please see below. We also offer hospitality cleaning services to Airbnb Hosts, preparing your listing for the arrival of guests or restoring it to pristine condition after their departure.
What are your prices?
At Cooperative Cleaning, we truly believe that treating our employees with respect and compensating them with fair wages and benefits results in a superior level of service to our hosts. Our prices reflect this commitment to responsible employment practices.
Below you’ll find our standard prices for home cleaning. All bookings must be made online and at least 24 hours in advance of requested service date.*

Additional Service Costs
Cooperative Cleaning offers a one-time complimentary key pick up if we will be keeping the key to provide future services to your home. If other arrangements need to be made, please contact our support team at 718-742-5855 and we can discuss your needs in anticipation to servicing you.
We’re happy to take care of laundry (linens & towels only). If the machines are in your unit, the laundry service is complimentary. If there are machines in your building and they are available for use when we arrive, we can perform laundry services for a $10 fee. We do not do laundry at outside laundromats. We can drop off and/or pick up laundry serviced by the staff of your local laundromat ($10 fee for either drop-off or pick-up and $15 fee for both). For pick-ups and drop-offs, please include instructions for how payments to the laundromat will be arranged.
Please note we must be able to complete the laundry within the allotted time for your cleaning. Allotted times are based on the number of bedrooms and bathrooms in your home. We will reach out to you if we determine we may exceed the allotted time and offer the option to leave items in the dryer or stay for extra time. Please see below for our policy on extra time.
Extra Time/Deep Cleaning:
If our cleaners encounter the need for deeper cleaning due to condition upon a guest’s departure, we will reach out to you to request additional time and proceed accordingly with the rate of $20 (per each extra ½ hour). This fee would be invoiced separately.
If deep cleaning is requested, we will add $20 per each extra ½ hour as needed. We will always do our best to alert the client if we encounter a home that may require more time in order to do a great job.

Who is a Cooperative Cleaner?
Our Cleaners are highly trained professionals. Each Cleaner receives an extensive four-day training session that includes detailed information on the cleaning and service needs of Airbnb Hosts and our residential clients. For our Airbnb Hosts, cleaners are trained to prepare your home so you and your guests have the best possible experience when walking through the door. After guests leave, our Cleaners will pay special attention to details that matter to Hosts, like recording broken or missing items and reporting significant issues to our office-based support team.
Are Cleaners employees of Cooperative Cleaning?
Yes, Cooperative Cleaning takes great pride in selecting, training, compensating and developing our employees.
Are Cleaners background checked?
Yes, the safety and security of your home and your possessions are of utmost concern. All Cleaners are thoroughly screened, verified and reference-checked.
Are Cleaners and their services covered by insurance?
Yes. While we do our best to prevent mishaps, we understand that things happen. Cooperative Cleaning is bonded and carries adequate insurance to cover a claim in the unlikely event that our employees are responsible for damage or lost property.
What are Cooperative Cleaners qualifications?
All Cleaners attend a thorough four-day residential cleaning training program prior to servicing our clients. Our comprehensive training includes such topics as safe use of cleaning agents, effective and efficient home cleaning and professionalism. They must demonstrate competence through simulations and field assessments before they begin working. We also take the time to help Cleaners learn how to meet the unique requirements of all our clients before they step foot in your home.

I am an Airbnb Host. How do I know all of my cleaning and pre-or-post guest requests will be followed?
We go to great lengths to make sure every employee follows our professional cleaning protocol each and every time. We also encourage Airbnb Hosts to let us know during the booking process if you have any special requests, such as leaving a welcome note or gift for your guests, putting laundry in the dryer, watering plants, or other information, such as where to find additional linens.
Please note our Cleaners are able to do some laundry (sheets and towels), or pick up and drop off laundry (within a 3 block radius) if needed. The more details we have before we provide our services, the better equipped we’ll be to make sure they are completed according to your wishes.
What cleaning products do Cleaners use to clean and ready my home for my guests?
Cleaners use the same cleaning supplies most people use in their own homes, such as Windex™ and SoftScrub™ (non-bleach). Cooperative Cleaning employees do not use products that contain bleach or other harmful substances, such as those found in oven cleaning products. Upon request, we are happy to use client cleaning products. Just let us know at the time of booking. All of our Cleaners travel with a vacuum. Our cleaners do not carry a mop, so we do ask that you provide one if you need mopping done on your floors.
Do I need to provide cleaning supplies?
No. You do not need to provide supplies unless you prefer the Cleaners to use specific products (please note this when booking). Our Cleaners use products supplied by Cooperative Cleaning at no additional cost to our clients (this includes all cleaning products and vacuum).
Note: Due to the fact that all Cleaners get to the cleaning location via public transportation, they do not carry mops - host must supply this item if mopping is required.
Who do I contact if I have a question about this service?
What are Cooperative Cleaning’s hours of operation?
Cooperative Cleaning’s business hours are between 8:00am - 6:00pm Eastern Standard Time Monday - Sunday. For any questions about the service, or if you have requests or changes to a service that has already been booked, client support teams are available by phone or email between these hours. In the event you need assistance during non-business hours we have staff available to respond to emergencies.
Additionally, we observe three major holidays when the office is closed. They are: New Year’s Day, Thanksgiving Day, and Christmas Day. We will however have the capacity to respond to emergencies on these days.
How much advance notice do I need to provide to book a service through Cooperative Cleaning?
Bookings for cleaning services must be made at least 24 hours in advance in order to ensure that all of the details of your needs are met. However, if you have an emergency call our customer support team and we will do our best to accommodate your request.
How do I book a service through Cooperative Cleaning?
How much time will a Cleaner need to clean my home?
This depends on the size and overall condition of the home. However, it will generally take between 2 to 2.5 hours to clean a typical studio or 1 bedroom unit. We cannot guarantee a completion time because many factors, like condition of the home, customer’s requirements, delayed guest departure (Airbnb Hosts), all significantly impact the timing of services.
What happens if inclement weather interferes with my scheduled services?
Cooperative Cleaning will always do its very best to honor all scheduled service bookings. Should storms or other significant public safety issues make it impossible to arrive as scheduled we will reach out to you to resolve the issue. We will also do our best to notify you if there are public transportation issues beyond our control.
How do I pay for service?
Who do I contact if I have an issue or concern with the quality of my recent service from Cooperative Cleaning?

While we strive to provide amazing service each and every time, we might miss something. We will always do our best to make the situation right.
What components comprise a basic general cleaning?
A general cleaning includes wiping down all surfaces, including window sills, in all rooms, including bedrooms, bathrooms and the kitchen, vacuuming (and mopping, if requested), wiping inside and outside of the refrigerator, as well as throwing away any perishables (Airbnb Hosts), making beds and tidying up to ready your home.
NOTE: Cleaners do not clean the inside of ovens, freezers, or any surfaces that require step-stools or ladders (i.e. high windows, ceiling fan blades, crown molding, etc.). Cleaners do not clean personal laundry items (shirts, pants, etc.) or do laundry anywhere other than in the assigned home. For a full list of items we cover during each cleaning, please click here.
My house is a wreck, what if I need a deep cleaning?
If you require additional cleaning time due to a very dirty home, please let us know in advance and we will do our best to have your Cleaner spend the time necessary, and within reason, get your home in shape.
Are your services available on holidays?
We do not provide cleaning services on the following holidays: New Year’s Day, Thanksgiving Day, and Christmas Day. We will, however, do our best to respond to emergencies on these days.
Do I need to tip?
Cooperative Cleaning prides itself on providing fair wages and benefits to our employees, and we expect everyone to provide amazing service to our clients. As such, we don’t expect our clients to tip, and instruct our employees to politely decline tips if they are offered.
Do you do laundry?

How do I cancel my cleaning? Is there a cancellation charge/fee?
We understand that schedules change and are happy to modify or cancel cleaning services. If you need to cancel your cleaning service, please reach out to us as soon as possible. We ask that any cancellation is done at least 24 hours prior to your scheduled cleaning time and date as our teams are scheduled the day prior. If the cancellation is made 24 hours prior, we can place the reservation on hold for another day at no cost to you. Should you need to cancel the same day as your cleaning service was scheduled, a cancellation fee of $25.00 will apply. Should you need to cancel the reservation 1 hour or less from the scheduled time a $50.00 cancellation fee will apply.
How do I communicate details about my cleaning needs to my Cleaner?
As you move through the booking process, simply enter your instructions on the screen that asks for them. Our team will pass along the details, including your special requests, to the Cleaner.
What if I need to edit some of my notes or update the cleaner with additional information?
Please call our customer support line (718-742-5855), or email us (firstname.lastname@example.org) with any changes or edits to your service booking at least 24 hours prior to your scheduled cleaning, so we have time to communicate with our Cleaner. We understand that sometimes plans change at the last minute, and will do our best to handle last minute requests whenever possible, but this is not guaranteed.
What if I am not at my home to let the cleaner in?
If you are not going to be home at the time of cleaning, that is fine. Just let us know when you book your service how we can gain access to your home. Leaving keys with a doorman, in a lock-box nearby or giving Cooperative Cleaning a spare set of keys are all options. We just need to know the details at the time of booking.
Can Cooperative Cleaning hold a set of keys for me?
Yes, at your request, we will hold a spare set of keys to your home. We store keys securely in our offices. If your locks are ever changed/replaced, please be sure to send us new keys as soon as possible to avoid service interruption.
Are Cleaners able to pick-up keys from my doorman and return them after they clean my apartment?
Yes. Many of our clients leave a set of keys with their doorman for our cleaners to use at the time of cleaning. Our cleaners will leave them as requested with the doorman upon completion of the cleaning. Please provide the name of our company (Cooperative Cleaning) to the doorman in advance so we get the right set, and are able to gain access at the scheduled time.
